Why Hillary Clinton should not be our President
When I look at the many problems with our current President George Bush, I see his #1 character flaw being that he is polarizing. He never cared about the fact that he completely alienated half the country by saying “screw you” to all Democrats and what they stand for. To go a step further, he’s alienated more than half the country, he’s even alienated fellow Republicans (except for those who head corporations). I’m a Republican who will be voting for a Democrat to lead our country in 2008 because it is time for change, and I feel like George Bush stands for nothing that I stand for, and fortunately I’m not a blind follower. Backing George Bush just because I’m a Republican would be like backing a child molestor just because they happened to be a member of my family. To hell with that family member. Bush is a caricature of the republican stereotype, and has given a good party a horrible name by way of corruption.
Our country is divided, and Democrats and Republicans have never disliked each other so much. While I admit that Democrats have every right to feel like it’s time to turn the tables and say “to hell” with all Republicans, and stick it to us, keep in mind that anybody who feels that way has become exactly what they’ve accused Republicans of being. It’s time to balance the scale that is heavily weighted in one direction right now, not take the scale and tip it just as far in the opposite direction. Imagine 2 runners in a race, and one of them has a 50 lb vest attached to them during the race and the other doesn’t. There is only one way to right this wrong, and it’s not to take the vest off the first runner and put it on the 2nd runner. The solution is to remove the vest completely so there is balance and equality.
Now I’ll get into Hillary Clinton. She’s incredibly polarizing, she plays dirty, and has no intentions whatsoever to unite our country. She has “To hell with all republicans” written all over her face. This was my opinion before she started campaigning, but during the campaign she’s clearly proven me right. Early on when Edwards and Obama called her out on some issues, rather than responding to the issue, she said “This is nothing more than mudslinging right out of the Republican playbook”. That comment spoke volumes. First off, mudslinging is not out of the “Republican” playbook, it’s out of the “Politician” playbook and shows a complete disregard for the truth. It was her way of trying to “demonize” her opposition and have others view them as “Republicans”, and it’s a backhand to my face being that I’m a Republican who is going to vote for a Democrat this election. Nobody should ever generalize and stereotype an entire group, but especially somebody who is supposed to lead our nation and unite our country. Remember this rule about a leader: A great leader will UNITE their people, not have them at odds with each other. Hillary seems to miss the fact that “the people” includes everybody in this country, not just one group. Even her most recent comment when talking about Obama included the following quote: “Differences between Barack and I pale in comparison to the differences that we have with Republicans”. Now don’t get me wrong, I realize Democrats and Republicans are different and always will be, but with that comment coming from Hillary, it speaks volumes about the fact she has no respect for Republicans, and that is not a quality we can have in somebody that is leading our nation.
Hillary is also underhanded. She has nerve trying to look like the Politician that takes the “high road” and seems to keep insulting her oppostion for having the audacity to attack her when #1. She hasn’t been attacked, she’s just been questioned on past decisions and actions. and #2. She’s allowing her husband and supporters to throw out the real attacks while she sits on the sidelines acting as if she’s above it all. That makes her a phony as well. If she’s sitting in a live interview with BET founder Bob Johnson and allowing him to smear Barack Obama, it’s the same as her throwing out the insults herself. It’s all planned, and don’t think she wasn’t using the fact Bob Johnson is black to her advantage (what better way to discredit Obama than to have an incredibly successful black man stomp on him)?
Hillary is experienced, her Husband did a great job and offers a lot more experience, and experience does mean something, but in this case it’s not what our country needs the most. In fact, Hillaries ties to Washington make her less attractive as an option, as it just shows she’s another bigwig politician just playing the game. It’s not as if Obama lacks the know-how to get things done, but well beyond the experience is a far more important trait: Decency. Barack is a good person, Barack wants to unite the country, Barack is not underhanded and polarizing. Barack has come across as extremely open and honest, and seems to genuinly care about people. Hillary Clinton is more of a “get ahead at all costs” type of person who would be better off being CEO of a major corporation. We already have that in office now and don’t need another one.
The worst insult anybody can give to either Barack or Hillary is to vote for either based on race or gender. How important is that compared to quality of character, and ability to unite our country and right the ship that Bush put off course? Isn’t the ultimate goal to have a country we are happy to represent? Isn’t that goal impossible to reach if our country remains divided, and if we have a stone cold President running the country? If thats the case, Hillary Clinton should be nothing more than an afterthought in this election. Barack can take this country in a new direction we’ve never seen before, lets give him our vote! Barack in 2008!

to say you are a moderate republican is a stretch..you sound like a democrat. You hate George W. and think Bill Clinton did a great job? Ok, you might be the only republican that thinks that, many republicans are disappointed in George for being polarizing when it was not necessary, not be clear about Iraq, large defecit, etc. However, most republicans do not think that Bill Clinton did a great job, as you say. Bill did an ok job, of course he has a record tax hike, left the country vulnerable by cutting defense and intelligence gathering, got impeached, had an affair with a staffer…the list could go on and on…but again are you sure you are really a republican.
Otherwise, I love this is a tired old ploy, let’s see I am a republican who hates Bush and loves Clinton and will be voting for Obama in 08 because I am so mad at my party.
Yoyo,
I understand your viewpoint. For the record though, I’m against abortion, I have zero tolerance for criminals and believe in the death penalty. I love the fact in this country you can make a killing by working hard which I believe is possible because of Republicanism. The list goes on, but I’m 36 and have never in my life voted for a Democrat, so I’m not a Democrat trying to say im something else.
You have opened my eyes to see that through my complete disgust with the Bush administration, I’ve somehow forgiven Bill Clinton for all his BS and shouldn’t have. The economy was thriving throughout the mid to late 90’s but that wasn’t because of Bill… The internet and technology boom which had nothing to do with Clinton created a ton of money and job opportunities, but of course reality set in during the end of the decade when the bubble burst and of course right when Bush took office the downward spiraling economy became horrible through zero fault of Bush.
However, while I’m not for raising taxes as Clinton did for the benefit of the “tax and spend” liberals, what Bush has done is worse. He just borrowed and spent money we never had at a level thats never been seen before and we may never recover from it. I appreciate the point of view, and want to say I didn’t write the article to convince Republicans to vote for a democrat, but to throw out there my disgust for Hillary Clinton, my respect for Barack, and my belief we need a change for this term.
